Contributing to the Chapter Playbook

Before creating or moving content into this repository, use the Information Classification Guide to confirm that it belongs in public documentation. This classification check gates every contribution.

If you are gathering missing dates, owners, policies, chapter details, or product context, start with the Factual Information Audit. It identifies the exact fact, preferred source, approving owner, and privacy boundary needed across the repository.

Submit a chapter year

  1. Create a branch named docs/[chapter]-[academic-year].
  2. Open your file under docs/chapters/.
  3. Copy the yearly archive template into the yearly archive.
  4. Write one short paragraph for Fall and one for Spring.
  5. Run python scripts/validate_docs.py and python -m mkdocs build --strict when available.
  6. Commit the source and regenerated site/ directory.
  7. Open a merge request titled docs: add [chapter] [academic year] archive.

Review standard

A reviewer should check accuracy, usefulness to another chapter, public safety, and whether the entry distinguishes one chapter's experience from organization-wide policy.
